Buying v’s earning

There are many of us that dream of owning our own business. It is the entrepreneurial goal just like that personal goal of owning your own home. Recently a group of business friends were discussing what is the difference to buying this dream or earning it. In saying that they also approached the similar topic of buying your way to a higher position because you are offered shares or equity in a business to earning it through hard work and commitment (not saying this has happened along the way ). The thing is – no two can be compared. Earning your way through a company and obtaining higher positions, salaries is just like starting a business from the ground up. It gives you the self satisfaction of achievement and journey. However buying a business or shares into a business (and I am not talking about investing) means you have something to prove, to show your worth and to prove to everyone that you are there for a reason. Both buying and earning are hard work, everyone watching your next move, scrutinising your decisions. Neither is better/worse or should be seen differently. Opportunities presents itself, the chance to start something for yourself or an offer of a business stake – these they are there for those willing to take the challenge, jump on the journey and to embrace the unknown of the business world – alone or with partners. The only person that needs to worry whether buying or earning was the best move is YOU!!!
